School Facility
Alta Vista Montessori School occupies 12,000 square feet of space in Winchester Court, located on Winchester Road halfway between Route 45 and Butterfield Road in the Village of Libertyville Illinois.
Many students come from Libertyville and the nearby communities of Mundelein, Vernon Hills, Gurnee and Grayslake; others travel from as far as Waukegan, Round Lake or Hawthorne Woods.
The school's current building was built in 1998. It was designed to provide for the children's needs in a warm, inviting and comfortable environment as well as to support our Montessori principles and methods. The indoor space includes 4 Montessori classrooms, 1 specialty classroom, 1 room for enrichment activities, administrative offices, kitchen and staff areas. The outdoor space includes play areas and gardens. Each cla
ssroom offers a full set of AMI-approved Montessori materials and custom furniture appropriate for the ages of children working in that environment. All classrooms are spacious, beautiful and bathed with plenty of natural light. The school also makes occasional use of the neighborhood park and soccer field.
